CONXO is made up of María Pardo, Manuel Abraldes, Russ, Diego Miramontes, and Lúa Aguete. We’re an electronic pop group performing in Galician, with influences from funk and jazz, born out of the musical interests of the group’s three founding members: Manuel, María, and Diego. The original members of CONXO met while singing in the Encaixe Choir. After several years of sharing musical influences linked to pop and electronic music (the techno and ballroom scenes), around 2020 we began composing our own music, improvising melodies and lyrics that speak to our personal experiences and the emotional struggles of a generation.Conxo is an electronic jam session brimming with imagination, vocal harmonies, and instruments. Our music speaks to the struggles of a generation, but we temper that intensity with danceable beats, a queer perspective, and a firm commitment to celebration and excess. In CONXO’s musical project, the band’s creative process engages with ballroom culture, drawing on pop and vocal harmonies as a recognizable emotional space. When translating this universe to the live stage, the need arises to incorporate a language centered on the body and shared movement, where techno and electronic music serve as a structural tool that organizes the intensity and physicality of the performance. In the live performance, this constant pulse amplifies the performativity, transforming the stage into a ritual space of tension, release, and expression.
