Miguel Matamoro

Miguel Matamoro (1991) is a pianist and composer. His repertoire has been performed at various renowned festivals and auditoriums in Europe and America.

Notable appearances include the Quincena Musical de San Sebastián, the Contemporary Music Cycle of the BBVA Foundation, the Ensems Festival in Valencia, the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, the Juan March Foundation, and the Real Academia Galega de Belas artes in A Coruña. Other prestigious venues where his music has been heard include the Contemporary Art Center of Puebla de Zaragoza (Mexico), the Organ Hall at the University of Houston, the Museum of Civilization in Quebec, and the Auditorium of Le Vivier in Montreal.

Among the groups and orchestras that have performed his music are the Basque Country Symphony Orchestra (OSE), the Leos Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra (Czech Rep.), the Real Filarmonía de Galicia, and the Symphony Band of Valencia. And among the soloists, there are names like Klara Novakova, Severine Ballon, and Christian Dierstein. Miguel Matamoro collaborates with a wide variety of artists and projects, compiling a repertoire that ranges from chamber or symphony music to jazz, electronics, and audiovisual production, highlighting the creation of the recent soundtrack for the film El arte de los analfabetos.

He won the EMCW composition prize (2012) and the Silver Medal at the Global Music Awards for independent music (USA). In 2018, he was chosen by the Galician Culture Council to compose Duns folios que foron blancos for choir and orchestra.
