Amoeba Split was formed in late 2001 in A Coruña (Galicia-Spain). Their musical project was a symphonic and progressive rock with influences from the Canterbury Sound. The musical approach became a jazz-tinged progressive rock in 2003, when they recorded their first demo, which gets an excellent reception in the local press and in concert halls in the province of A Coruña. Following this work, the group undertakes a long way with various lineup changes, composition of new tunes, experimentation, side projects -case of the jazz rock trio "Starless", formed by members of the group- and creation of audiovisual shows. Finally, in 2007 they recorded their first album, finally released in September 2010 under the title of "Dance of the goodbyes". This album was released on CD digifile in a limited and numbered edition of 500 copies, with excellent reviews worldwide, and was nominated by the specialized web Progawards as "Best Progressive Rock Debut Album of 2010 ." This edition was sold out within a few months, and was reissued on double vinyl. After participating in major progressive rock festivals, alongside the likes of Neal Morse and Al Di Meola, the group returns to the studio to record their second album, "Second Split", published in early 2016 by Azafran Media label.
