Javier Otero Neira was born in A Estrada (Pontevedra) in 1981 where he began to play the piano at eight years of age. He achieved Superior Studies at the “Real Conservatorio Superior de Música” in Madrid with professor Almudena Cano. In addition, he has perfected his studies with professors So Young Moon, Claudio M. Mehner, Ana Guijarro, Joaquín Achúcarro, Josep Colom, Robert Levin, Andrej Jasinski, Vladmr Krpan, Christopher Elton and Boris Berman. He has received several distinguished awards; the premier Piano Blüthner Award, the premier award in the Piano R.C.N. Competition in Vigo), the premier award in the Galician Piano Associaton of Classical Music Interpretation Competition , the second place award in the National Piano Composers of Spain Competition , and the “Gregorio Baudot” award in the International “Cidade de Ferrol” Piano Competition and has performed live on National Classic Radio (RNE Radio 2) and he has been filmed for Croatian and Spanish television.He was the first Galician pianist to have been invited to perform with the “Real Filharmonia de Galicia” to interpret the Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat major, Op. 73, “Emperor Concerto” from Ludwig van Beethoven, under the direction of maestro Maximino Maximino Zumalave. In addition, his recital at the Fundación Juan March (January 2011) in celebration of Liszt Year was well-received and a great public success. He gave chamber music recitals with Wenzel Fuchs, Thomas Piel, Humberto Armas and Ildikó Oltai.
