Almost without realising it, the Galician pop scene was consolidated as something very serious, ready to last over time, besides walking in parallel with other disciplines, such as the audiovisual world, poetry, photography, design or even comics. Moreover, almost without realizing it, Chicharrón have been gaining weight as a catalyst for all this, an absolutely unique creative cell due to their always mutating character and, at the same time, solid in their ideals and convictions. His new album, “Unha fogueira intacta” (Ferror Records, 2021), continues the path of the previous one, “Cancións sociales” (2018), but it also has a different and, apparently, contradictory nature. It was created during quarantine, with all the paranoia caused by the alert state and the months afterwards but, at the same time, it is their most open album to external collaborations. On a sound level, there are no longer those pop concessions that still remained in songs from their previous work, such as ‘Que tiempo fara?’. Now, everything is much more suffocating and elusive in a process that was always open to what was found through error."Unha fogueira intacta" is a truly inspiring album, a new humanistic and artistic manifesto in a band that is always restless, always surprising. Chicharrón is still all the possibilities because they were never so close to finding them.—David Saavedra
