Leirabuxo

Leirabuxo is a musical project that arises in the cradle of the region of Melide (A Coruña) and surroundings in 2010, the result of a meeting of four friends who love traditional music.

The concerns of these four friends made them come together to do what they really like, which is nothing other than trying to entertain the audience by making traditional music of Galicia with that instrument that comes from a boxwood, and hence its name: Leirabuxo. In the beginning, the project was composed by Manuel Varela (accordion), Román Varela (drum), Carlos "Pulgui" Varela (bass drum) and Carlos Fandiño (bagpipe); Subsequently, X. Luis Barreiro (bagpipe), David Fernández (baritone sax) and the voices of Carla and Lía Rey are incorporated.

In 2014 they record and edit their first record, which is released under the title "Pé de ouro, raíces de prata" (2014) in which the best of their repertoire is divided into 12 cuts.

In their almost eight years of existence, Leirabuxo has already participated in multiple festivals, such as the Festival of Pardiñas, Festival de la Luz, Son do Masma, Festival of Melindre and many other events and parties throughout the Galician geography.

At the beginning of 2018, their second album came out, "Minimum" (2018), in which the band's musical identity was definitively consolidated. "Minimum" is a record of original music, passed through that personal colander that makes it sound like Leirabuxo.
