Darío Moreira

DARÍO MOREIRA Studied classical guitar at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Vigo. The problems caused by a fracture in his left arm when he was young led him to explore different expressive resources on the guitar, developing a dynamic and colourful idiomatic style. He was one of the founders of the folk group NaLúa, with whom he made his first contact with the songbooks of traditional music, discovering the genuine creators of Galician folklore, and living the experience of sharing the stage with great artists in more than a hundred concerts. A non-conformist spirit and a natural curiosity impelled him to continue his self-taught studies in composition, writing works for different orchestras, with a special vocation for stringed instruments such as the harp, collaborating in projects with excellent performers. From the knowledge and respect for the historical legacy passed on by the great masters of the guitar, he incorporates in his writing extended techniques that have been documented in the renaissance vihuela, the flamenco guitar and other stringed instruments of archaic origin, such as the Byzantine lyre. In his first solo album, he presents a creative guitar that explores new sonorities, from an interdisciplinary musical concept that combines music with science, philosophy and art.
