Guitarist Marcos Álvarez González, from Ourense, studied at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de A Coruña, where he was awarded with the Extraordinary End of Studies Prize, followed by the Conservatorium Maastricht (Netherlands), where he completed his Master's Degree in Classical Guitar with Cum Laude distinction under the tutelage of Carlo Marchione. His career has been recognized in competitions such as the Juan Crisóstomo de Arriaga International Guitar Competition, Mans Futuro Award, and Lions Club International Competition, and he has perfected his performance in numerous master classes with figures such as Margarita Escarpa, Judicaël Perroy, Carmen Ros, Marco Socías, and Àlex Garrobé.Marcos is currently presenting “Fíos de Ultramar,” a project that invites listeners to explore the evolution of classical guitar through a dialogue between tradition and modernity: from the expressive richness of Spanish music to the Latin American and jazz influences of the 20th and 21st centuries. The proposal is complemented by brief explanations and visual projections that act as a common thread, creating an intimate and accessible experience for the audience. This same vision of communicating and bringing music closer also guides his work as a teacher, where he conveys to new generations the importance of understanding the guitar not only as an instrument, but as a vehicle for emotion, culture, and dialogue between eras.
