Sheila Patricia

Sheila Patricia is one of the voices of the new singer-songwriter scene in Galicia. Daughter of a Galician and an Argentinean of Asturian descent, we can perfectly perceive all this mixture in her compositions, with characteristic features of the folklore of both places and always wrapped by the strings of a guitar, an instrument that unifies the two continents.

The continuous concern for what is hers, for the land where she currently resides, shines through in the discourse of her current shows. Stories of women, of her grandmother and of all the grandmothers who make up the life and feminine strength that Sheila carries. Her upbringing, in the Rías Baixas and close to the border with Portugal, does not leave her perception of music indifferent. Sheila has that way of singing, similar to the weeping of the fadistas at times, with a strong rubato and with great depth in the interpretation. It is also worth mentioning her way with and vocal ornaments, both typical of traditional music.

Sheila is currently researching into the mixture of the most modern and electronic sounds, while preserving the essence of acoustic music, with a tribute to Galician culture. On 8 April 2022, she releases her first album, "Orixe" (2022), where she mixes the most minimalist electronics with her voice as the main sound instrument. A tribute to Galician women with the sea as a constant element from beginning to end.
