Sigilu

Sigilu was born in Lugo in 2015 as a project conceived to fuse acoustic and electronic elements. The band emerged from the collaboration between Málaga-born Nacho Cuesta (vocals, guitar) and Ferrol native Pablo Saavedra (electronic drums), driven by a shared interest in exploring the boundaries between singer-songwriter traditions, electronic music, alternative rock, and sonic experimentation. Hugo Rodríguez and Evaristo Frieiro later joined, solidifying the group’s first stable lineup.

From this initial phase came “Singularidad o Barbarie” (2017), an album wher folk-inspired structures intertwine with electronic textures and a strong melodic focus, venturing into territory close to trip-hop. The record was produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Sigilu themselves, with the collaboration of Arturo Vaquero at Abrigueiro Estudios.

After this period, the band underwent a profound transformation following the departure of Hugo and Evaristo and the addition, in 2021, of bassist Ángel Boquete (NEBRA) from Lugo. Out of the subsequent years of writing and development emerged “Beta” (2025), an album with a denser, more expansive sound that explores a convergence of progressive rock, metal, 90s alternative rock, and echoes of Spanish music from the 60s and 70s. Also produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered with the help of Arturo Vaquero, Beta represents a radical evolution in Sigilu’s identity.

Critical reviews of the album have highlighted influences such as Tool, Steven Wilson, Alice in Chains, and Radiohead.
